- EVENTS
The Denver Sailing Association will conduct six (6) series of races in 2008 as described in 3 Eligibility and 5 Schedules.
- RULES
All series will be governed by the rules as defined by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2005 - 2008 except as any of these are changed by the Sailing Instructions, and the rules of Cherry Creek State Park. The Sailing Instructions will be available at least five (5) days prior to the first race of each series on the DSA Website www.denversailing.org and posted on the official DSA notice board at the Cherry Creek Marina office.
- ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
- 3.1 No registration is required. All boats must be helmed by a Denver Sailing Association member in
good standing. Races sailed prior to 2008 dues being paid will be scored DNC.
- 3.2 The Thawout and Frostbite Series are open to all boats.
- 3.3 The Spring and Summer Wednesday Night (Keel) Series are open to self righting boats.
- 3.4 The Thursday Night Spring and Summer (Dinghy) Series are open to boats 20 ft in length or less.
- 3.5 Fleet status will be given to groups of five or more One Design boats that sail in a series. All
other boats will be formed into one or more Handicap fleets. Self righting boats will be handicapped by
SAIL PHRF. All other boats will be handicapped by Portsmouth. Boats handicapped by Portsmouth must have
ratings based on more than five data points to be eligible for a trophy.

- FEES
There are no fees for any of the series.
- SCHEDULES
- 5.1 Thawout Series: four (4) Saturdays - April 5, 12, 19, and 26, 2008.
First Warning signal at 1300 hours.
- 5.2 Spring Wednesday Night (Keel) Series: nine (9) Wednesdays ? May 7, through July 2, 2008. First
Warning signal at 1820 hours.
- 5.3 Spring Thursday Night (Dinghy) Series: nine (9) Thursdays ? May 8, through July 3, 2008. First
Warning signal at 1820 hours.
nbsp; - 5.4 Summer Wednesday Night (Keel) Series: nine (9) Wednesdays ? July 9, through September 3, 2008. First Warning signal at 1820 hours.
- 5.5 Summer Thursday Night (Dinghy) Series: nine (9) Thursdays ? July 10, through September 4, 2008. First Warning signal at 1820 hours.
- 5.6 Frostbite Series: four (4) Saturdays ? September 27, October 4, 11, 18, 2008. First Warning signal at 1300 hours.
- 5.1 Thawout Series: four (4) Saturdays - April 5, 12, 19, and 26, 2008.
First Warning signal at 1300 hours.
- NOTICES TO COMPETITORS
Notices to competitors will be posted on the official DSA notice board at the Cherry Creek Marina office.
- CHANGES TO THE RULES
The Sailing Instructions may modify the rules. Anticipated changes include but are not limited to: modification of Appendix A Low Point Score System as described in 10 Scoring, and Rule 26 to allow the Race Committee discretion to use the Sound Signal Starting System in Appendix Q.
- PRIZES
The number of prizes to be awarded will depend on the number of competitors in each fleet. To be eligible for a prize each competitor must have served as a member of the on the water race committee at least once during any series of the season as described in 10 race Committee requirement.
- VENUE
All races will be held on Cherry Creek Reservoir.
- RACE COMMITTEE REQUIREMENT
- 10.1 Each DSA member competing in a racing series must serve as a member of the Race Committee for
at least one race day or race evening in any of the six (6) series.
- 10.2 Competitors who serve on Race Committee will receive scores for the races that they serve as
described in 11.3 Scoring RC.
- 10.3 Completing Race Committee duties for a cancelled, postponed, delayed or abandoned race will meet this requirement.
- 10.1 Each DSA member competing in a racing series must serve as a member of the Race Committee for
at least one race day or race evening in any of the six (6) series.
- SCORING
- 11.1 The Low Point Scoring System in Appendix A will used with the modifications stated in this
Notice of Race.
- 11.2 Appendix A is modified so that for every 5 races completed the boat's single worst score will be thrown out.
- 11.3 Appendix A 4.2 is modified as follows:
- 11.4 Note 3.1 Eligibility and Entry, “…races sailed prior to payment of 2008 dues will be scored
DNC”.
- 11.1 The Low Point Scoring System in Appendix A will used with the modifications stated in this
Notice of Race.
- DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors recognize that the sport of sailing entails inherent risks which the organizing authority is unable to prevent or ameliorate. Competitors participate in any Series entirely at their own risk. See Rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the series.
