Denver Boat Show

The Denver Boat Show will be held in the Colorado Convention Center, 14th Street & Welton in downtown Denver from Thursday, January 17th through Sunday, January 20th, 2008. The Show's open hours are:

  • Thursday -- 3-9 PM
  • Friday -- 12noon-9 PM
  • Saturday -- 10AM-9PM
  • Sunday -- 10AM-5PM

It's "The Premiere Boat Show of the Rockies" and the only one in Denver. This year, The Anchorage -- a sailboat dealer -- is leading its organization.

DSA will be there!

DSA will again have a booth in conjunction with SAIL. We'll talk with present & prospective members about the advantages of DSA, pass out literature, and have a general good time.

Wend you way past the power-boats to our booth near The Anchorage exhibit. (Look for sails.)

Booth staffing needed.

Bob Stoller is looking for people to help set up, staff, and take down the DSA booth. See below for times. E-mail him at

No pond or little boat races.

Due to a mishap with a hot-tub exhibit in 2007, the Convention Center no longer allows water on the the exhibit (2nd) floor. Kids' activities have been moved to the "Captain Kids" area.

Happy New Year to you all from Bob Stoller.

As you know, the Boat show is coming up and I would like to start arranging for people to staff the DSA booth.

This year we will combine with Colorado Yacht and Sail Club, and the Sailing Association of Inter-mountain Lakes so as to have a combined booth that is 10 feet deep and 30 feet long. Union Sailing Club will also be represented in the combined booth, and the 4 clubs will split the cost of the booths. This year the kids sailing activity will be done in a special kids area and will not be in the DSA, SAIL, CSYC booth. This will give us the opportunity to display a sail boat as an attention getter. Details of whose boat of what class have yet to be worked out.

The dates are Thursday, January 17th through Sunday, January 20th. Setup will be on the afternoon of the January 16th, and take down will be on Sunday, just after the show closes. The following schedule is similar to previous years. Please set aside some time to help encourage the participation in the sailing clubs in our area. We usually sign up new members at the Show. I expect that Community Sailing will have flyers, and various fleets should have info on their boats available.

At 3:00 pm on Saturday SAIL will present a 45 min. talk on Front Range sailing. After the talk, SAIL would like to have club representatives available to talk about their club and the fleets that race there.

Wednesday, January 16th: Set Up, (available from 8am to 8pm, I would plan on being at the convention center at 6:00.

DSA nametags will be available at the will call window. These will get you into the boat show. For DSA, the boat show will only allow us to have 4 name tags. It will be very important to turn in your tag back to the will call window, or if it is closed, to turn it in to the Colorado Marine Dealers Assoc. booth and they will give the badges back to the will call booth the following morning. I am trying to arrange for more name tags, but don’t count on it.

I will be out of town this coming weekend and will return on Wednesday. We need people who will be able to help with setup incase I get snowed in at Shrine Pass where I will be on a hut trip or the passes are closed.

Please schedule your time to help out at the boat show and let me know so that I can fill in the times that coverage is available at all times and for take down.

    • 10:00-12:00
    • 12:00-2:00

Please either call me and leave a message telling me when you could help out, or email me. As the show gets closer, and people start to fill in the shifts, I will assign the people with flexible schedules into the shifts that are more difficult to fill.

A reminder: Colorado State Parks will be at the Boat Show and it is very convenient to get you park pass while you are at the show and pay your yearly boat registration.

Thanks for everyone's help on this project.
